Pre-Kindergarten Department
1:13 Teacher/Child Ratio
Our preschool program provides a structured academic environment where students continue play and learn but also prepare for the coming years in grade school. Teachers in our pre-k department are highly trained and provide a hands-on learning approach with high expectations for their students. Following the Abeka curriculum, students are taught phonics and spelling as well as basic writing, reading, and math skills. In addition we provide weekly enrichment classes in the areas of Spanish, Sign Language, Drama, Music, and Art.
At the close of the school year, students that will be entering Kindergarten take the Stanford Achievement Test to determine each student’s strengths and weaknesses. Some categories tested are phonological awareness, word reading, mathematics including number and sense operation and problem solving, and environmental awareness in the areas of history, geography, life, and physical sciences, among others. In addition the SAT ranks our center among other preschools on a national level in regards to grade school readiness.
